I have been working as a photographer since 1980. My main area of concentration has been photojournalism, covering a diversity of domestic and international stories. Starting in the late 1980’s I worked under contract with Newsweek magazine as a contributing photographer. At the same time I worked with editorial clients like The New York Times Magazine, Fortune, USA Today, and many foreign publications.

I have worked frequently over the years with ngo’s – among them Unicef, Save The Children, Care and The World Food Program. I have also worked frequently with corporations like Citigroup, Barnes & Noble, and the American Stock Exchange.

Over the last 20 years I have authored and photographed twelve books for children on a range of subjects including fire fighters, gardening, trucks, garbage, and tugboats. I have also participated in a number of large scale photo book projects.

In 2003 I completed my first feature length documentary – Gotham Fish Tales – about the marvelous and unheralded fishery of New York City. The film was featured in ten film festivals and was picked up for broadcast by The Sundance Channel for a two year run. More information can be found at

I believe my strengths lie in a strong graphic sense and my ability to work easily with people of all stripes, from heads of state to children at play. I thrive at meeting people and situations where I can find a visual solution that is creative and convincing. My extensive editorial background, where one usually has but one chance to get it right, has prepared me well to achieve that.
